Stone Restoration & Conservation
Careful repair and conservation of period stonework, using lime mortars and matched stone.

Most of what we do is repair, not replacement. A weathered mullion, a spalling quoin or a failing parapet rarely needs to be torn out. We assess the fabric first, identify why the stone has decayed, and put right the cause before the symptom.
We cut and carve replacement stone by hand to match the original profiles, and bed everything in lime mortar rather than cement, so the wall can breathe as it was built to. Where a stone can be conserved in place, it is: piecing-in, indenting and lime repair keep as much historic material as possible.
We are comfortable working on listed buildings and within conservation areas, and we are happy to liaise with conservation officers and architects on specification and consents.
